About Myntos
Myntos is a web-based bookkeeping application for Norwegian companies. It records incoming and outgoing payments with their supporting documents, calculates value-added tax, and is built to produce the reports Norwegian law requires — SAF-T Financial exports and filings to the Norwegian Tax Administration (Skatteetaten).
What you can do with it
- Register a company by its Norwegian organisation number. The chart of accounts, VAT codes and financial years are set up automatically.
- Record payments in and out, each with a type that determines its account and VAT treatment, and optionally a PDF of the receipt or invoice.
- See your cash flow — totals in and out, net, and VAT for the year.
- Work as a team. An account belongs to an organisation, and colleagues are invited into it with roles. Accountants can keep several companies under one organisation.
- Take your data out. SAF-T export and the PDF archive are legal requirements, not premium features. You can leave and take the whole ledger with you.
Who it is for
Small Norwegian companies — sole proprietorships and limited companies (AS) — and the accountants who keep their books. It is built around Norwegian rules first: the data model follows SAF-T Financial, corrections are made by reversing entries as bokføringsloven requires, and entries cannot be edited after posting.
Signing in, and what we do with your Google account
You can create an account with an email address and password. You may also sign in with Google, Microsoft or Vipps, in which case we receive only your name andemail address from that provider.
Those two values are used for one purpose: to create your Myntos account and to identify you when you sign in again. We do not read, send or store anything else from your account with that provider, we do not request access to your files, mail or contacts, and we do not sell or share the data with third parties. You can remove the connection at any time and keep signing in with a password. See our privacy policy for the full account.
Where your data is kept
The database and the document archive both run inside the EEA — the database in Frankfurt, Germany, and the document storage in an EU-jurisdiction bucket. Bokføringsforskriften § 7-5 permits electronic accounting records to be kept anywhere in the EEA provided the bookkeeping-obligated entity notifies the tax office in writing, and Myntos is designed to help you send that notice rather than pretend the requirement does not exist.
Source code
The source code of Myntos is publicly available so that anyone can inspect exactly how the numbers are produced — which matters more for accounting software than for most things. Note that publicly readable is not the same as an open-source licence: the code is source-available under a proprietary licence, not licensed for redistribution.
Who operates it
Myntos is operated by Lindeman Technologies, Norway. For questions about the service or this page, the contact details are onthe privacy page.
